Goddess, Incorporated

And now for what might be a corny story... As Aurah, I have started a new practice that's been igniting straight up magic. I’ve been doing it for a couple of months now and I am developing an ever-evolving and clearing sense about what this practice is and how it works. I’m sure this won’t be the first time I write about this concept. The practice is this: each morning upon arriving to my office, I begin my day by opening up my email and calendar just like anybody else. I take a look at the day and note appointments, lunches and off-site meetings. I take a box of goddess cards from the top left drawer of my desk. I thank yesterday's goddess and shuffle into the deck yesterday's card while asking a question along the lines of “who wants to incorporate my aura today?”

I notice my breathing as I anticipate turning over the card. The goddess and I will usually lock eyes as I take a few minutes to study her face, noting any animals, action or accoutrements. I look her up in the book (and sometimes Google too) to see who and what she represents: what qualities, stories, cultural indications, what have you. I look back at my schedule and imagine my meetings and appointments while navigating them through this goddess lens.

Sometimes the goddess is Christian, as in the cases of Mary Mother of God and Mary Magdalene. Sometimes Hindu, when I draw Lakshmi or Saraswati. Others are Celtic, African, Germanic, Chinese and Norse. The list goes on. As a result, I’m learning a ton about the feminine divine from multiple cultures and religions.

Aurah is “me” but she’s this slightly less egoic version of me that still knows how to operate in the physical plane. She’s this higher version of myself that’s learning how to marry the astral realms with earth, or something like that, right? As a clear and radiant being, she allows me as my body to then mantle itself with different goddess aspects each day. It makes interactions and meetings at the office a lot more interesting. Life at work can no longer mundane when I’m sending an email as Freyja or standing at the copier as Dana the High Priestess. I would encourage anyone (male or female) to adopt this daily practice  if it resonates. It’s amazingly joyous, I’m finding.  Here’s the deck I use.
